We used to have a beautiful garden, believe it or not then these little

critters took over! When considering buying a giant breed, you have

to consider where they will reside.  The  hutch will have to be large

enough for the bunny to lie down at full stretch.  The hutch pictures

here is the home of  6 rabbits that's why it is hugeI believe the

minimum for 1 pet rabbit is 6 feet long by 2 1/2 feet wide.  The hutch

should have 2 compartments, a living area and a sleeping area. The

hutch should also have suitable bedding, I use sawdust, which can

be bought from any pet shop and I make sure that the bunnies have

lots of straw to snuggle up in in the sleeping area, I increase the

amount of straw during colder weather as well as adding covers

to the mesh doors.I feed a complete food to all my buns.  They have

the dry food in the morning and fresh greens in the evening,

Suitable Greens                                       Unsuitable Greens

  • Cabbage (mine love Savoy)             Lettuce
  • Celery                                              Potatoes
  • Carrots  and Carrot tops                  Rhubarb
  • Parsley
  • Broccoli
  • Chicory
  • Spinach
  • Apples ( but not the pips)

This is not a comprehensive list so if you are unsure

of any food please research first

As a treat Dandelion leaves are great as is any branches

from fruit trees which your rabbit will love to chew and

it’s also brilliant at keeping their teeth healthy.  Fresh

water should always be available and changed every

day, be careful during very cold weather as water

bottles tend to freeze, I always have a few spare

bottles at hand incase I need to defrost their regular

bottle.
